Cats Looking for Forever Homes

We know how tempting it is to meet a cat or kitten and immediately want to take it home. AVA strives to ensure the best fit for our cats and for your family, so before you come to the adoption centre and your heart melts, here are a few questions to consider. Make some time to come to our adoption centre to meet the cats in person, and ensure that anyone who will be living with the cat(s) visits too.

All kittens under 12 months must be adopted with another kitten or go to a home with another young cat (learn more about our two-kitten policy).

Adoption Fees
Standard adoption fees for cats and kittens include vetting, spay/neuter, two dewormings, microchip, and initial vaccine at the time of adoption (FVRCP and rabies if age-appropriate). Additional fees may apply for cats who have had or are due for vaccine boosters prior to adoption. Testing for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) or Feline Leukemia (FeLV) is is not included unless specifically indicated as testing is not standard practice.

As of October 1, 2022, AVA’s adoption fee schedule will be as follows:

  • Adult over 1 year: $200 (with initial vaccine)
  • Adult over 1 year: $250 (with second/booster vaccine)
  • Kitten or juvenile under 1 year: $225 (with initial vaccine)
  • Kitten or juvenile under 1 year: $275 (with booster vaccine)
  • Special breeds: Starting at $225 – a $50 fee may be applied for special breeds who have had a booster administered prior to adoption.

Total fees will be confirmed by the AVA Adoption Coordinator.

COVID-19 Update:

During the pandemic, AVA is still conducting adoptions, but in ways that protect the health & safety of all those involved and maintain physical distancing.  In addition to telephone screenings, we are conducting virtual “meet and greets” where possible, along with other safety measures.

***

Please note that not all applicants will be contacted for a follow-up or screening. Due to the overwhelming volume of applications we are receiving, a response to short-listed applicants may be delayed. While we endeavour to contact short-listed applicants within 48 hours, a response may take up to a week.

Thank you for your enthusiasm and understanding!
