Cats Looking for Forever Homes

We know how tempting it is to meet a cat or kitten and immediately want to take it home. AVA strives to ensure the best fit for our cats and for your family, so before you come to the adoption centre and your heart melts, here are a few questions to consider. Make some time to come to our adoption centre to meet the cats in person, and ensure that anyone who will be living with the cat(s) visits too.

All kittens must be adopted with another kitten or go to a home with another young cat (learn more about our two-kitten policy).

Adoption Fees:

  • Adult over 1 year: $175
  • Kitten or juvenile under 1 year: $200
  • Special breeds: Starting at $200

Our adoption fees for cats and kittens include vetting, spay/neuter, two dewormings (Revolution), microchip, and age-appropriate vaccines at the time of adoption.

Please note that effective July 1, 2021, AVA will be increasing its adoption fees to reflect increasing costs for both regular and extraordinary veterinary care, and other costs of looking after our cats. Many cats require medication, surgery or dental care – this can range from $300 to over $1000, even for a rescue. Adoption fees can’t begin to cover some of these costs, yet the requests to help rescue, rehabilitate and rehome vulnerable animals continue.  AVA is a 100% volunteer-run registered charity: thank you to our donors, supporters, volunteers and fosters who help us each day to save and care for these cats – we can’t do it without you!

New rates as of July 1:

  • Adult over 1 year: $200
  • Kitten or juvenile under 1 year: $225

COVID-19 Update:

During the pandemic, AVA is still conducting adoptions, but in ways that protect the health & safety of all those involved and maintaining physical distancing.  In addition to telephone screenings, we are conducting virtual “meet and greets” where possible, along with other safety measures.

***

Please note that not all applicants will be contacted for a follow-up or screening. Due to the overwhelming volume of applications we are receiving, a response to short-listed applicants may be delayed. While we endeavour to contact short-listed applicants within 48 hours, a response may take up to a week.

Thank you for your enthusiasm and understanding!
